Harm None, Do what you Will

By wolftribe2009 2010-09-12 19:22:45
Merry Meet and greetings to all of my friends. I am inspired this mourning to write on a specific part of the Wiccan Law; indeed, because I wouldn't want you to forget how important those 'eight little words' are to the Wiccan Believer. We are suppose to follow these eight words and they are...

An Ye Harm None, Do as you Will

This is the very first rule which was revealed to me; indeed it is known through out the entire wiccan lifestyle. I believe that this fact is extremely important and it separates us from the stereotypical belief on the wiccan lifestyle. The modern world are ignorant of the facts; indeed for most believe that wiccans worship Satan. The pentagram is seen as a sign of the devil but this sacred object was being used long before the concept of the devil ever came into being. The pentagram is also known as the Five Pointed Star and it represents Spirit, Water, Fire, Earth and Air. There are some who believe we sacrifice people and animals; furthermore there are those who truly believe that witches cast curses upon those they dislike.

This fear which is felt by the masses, cannot be any further from the truth. The modern movement for the Witch; should focus on getting away from that stereotypical belief. The historical witch would not have performed any such acts and to claim that they did would truly be an insult to their memory. Those who are trying to re-awaken the long lost tradition of the witch should focus on revealing the Truth about the Witch. This stereotypical belief is what led to; what is commonly known as the burning times. The great witches of those days were accused of black masses, sacrifice and contracts in blood as they signed their souls over to the devil. How many brothers and sisters of the craft perished in those years; simply because someone believed they were evil? We might never know the answer to that question but I am certain of the fact; that most of them were not performing the acts for which they were accused.

I might have not been there but yet I don't have to be. I can be certain of that, in light of the Wiccan Rede. Do a little research and you will soon discover a very different witch then the one portrayed by the masses on Halloween Night. I will use one of my favorite quotes by the well known author Christopher Penchak,

Those claiming the name and title of witch are truly reclaiming and building on the image of the witch from those ancient days. If you really want to know what the words witch and witchcraft mean as we move into the next century, look at the growing movement of modern witches.
(Taken from The Inner Temple of Witchcraft by Christopher Penchak)

He wasn't talking about the witches who were believed to be sacrificing people and casting curses. My point in writing this article is in hopes that you will evaluate your actions BEFORE you perform them. It is a well known fact that whatever you send out will return to you. If you send out one curse then you will bring back three times as much back upon yourself. Therefore, if you truly strive to send ill upon the one you loathe; then remember what is commonly believed about the Witch. Can you honestly declare that you have lived your life in Perfect Love and Perfect Trust? Remember that people make mistakes but you should never strive to live your life by harming others; otherwise you are NOT living in perfect love. I also want for you to remember that the calling of a witch is a DIVINE calling and so you are chosen by the gods. You don't answer to yourself; indeed, you answer to them. The entire wiccan rede is a divine law given so you can fulfill everything in Perfect Love and Perfect Trust. Finally, remember all of those who perished in the burning times. Bide the Wiccan Law and let your actions and words be made in memory; of those who stood in Faith for what they believed. I know that everyone has free will and can use magic for both good and bad; however, my nature just wasn't sitting well with the idea of what actions can be perfprmed in the name of the witch. I had a friend who recently admitted to placing a curse upon someone else. That person later was hit with the results of the curse. Now this guy knew the wiccan rede because he stated that you must be prepared to deal with the Good and Bad which comes with Spell Work. Excuse me, if I seem to come across as different then most wiccans; indeed, I don't know how many wiccans are out there who actually do such things. I can only speak for myself when I ask why a witch with knowledge of the ancient wisdom of the universe; would curse someone when the laws of nature were not meant to be used in such a way? I do not understand how someone can be wiccan and practice such things. I believe the answer is clear...

Most don't see the hidden truth in the Wiccan Rede; indeed because it isn't about fearing the bad karma which returns to you. It isn't enough to tell yourself that you can live with such a curse because you know the rule of three. No, the concept of perfect love and perfect truth is simply knowing the true meaning of the Wiccan Rede. The word MUST is essential in understanding; that the witch is expected to honor the wisdom they have been given and to use it for the greater good of the universe. To do anything other then that isn't true Witchcraft when you are talking about the ancient witches. The word witch unfortunately brings up a lot of bad images when spoken of; however, the oldest version of the word would reveal a witch who knew the powers of nature and used such wisdom to not only help themselves but others as well; therefore, I hope that you will watch the video below and remember to live your life in Perfect Love and Perfect Trust.
