My beliefs? 2

By KristenCamp 2010-09-13 21:22:10
First let me just say thank you to Ratio9 for taking the time to respond to my first ever blog. I’m glad someone did because, honestly, I thought I was just going to talk to myself in these blogs.
I understand what Ratio 9 said about people of other religions being bias. Believe me I’ve had my experiences to concur: in fact, I’ve had a lady, on hearing I was wiccan, say, “That’s right you worship the devil.” Let’s just say that besides being extremely pissed, I was struck speechless by how ignorant some people can be.
Now I must admit this isn’t the first time this has happened and I’m sure it won’t be the last, but I can’t bring myself to say that all Christians are biased. I was born a Wiccan, raised a Christian and returned to my true religion when I realized I didn’t belong. When I say I was born Wiccan, I mean I was born with the foundation that later evolved into what would be my beliefs. That foundation resembled beliefs believed by Wiccans. At 16 I renounced Christianity. I never could wrap my mind around it so gave up trying, much to the disappointment of my mom. At 20 I found where I belong, Wicca.
If someone believes in something else it is not right for me to tell them they’re wrong. I’m not a Jehovah’s Witness. Just like it wouldn’t be right for someone to tell me I’m wrong because I wouldn’t listen to it.
My mom is a solitary Christian just like I’m a solitary witch. She doesn’t understand me and my beliefs but she accepts them. That is why I can’t say that all Christians and people of other religions are against us. I believe that to the ones that are, it’s because we don’t conform to common beliefs and therefore, must be evil. I don’t see these people as mean spirited but ignorant and scared.
Coming back to my original blog, that is why I feel we need to bring Wicca and its beliefs to the light. Maybe, now that I look back on it, it was presumptuous of me to want one book. I have been called a dreamer but I do believe that a house of worship (not a rundown building with folding chairs) would go a long way to establishing a common and known religion.
Christians were persecuted. Let me say that again because I know it’s hard to believe. Christians and Christianity was persecuted when it was first established. Just because were looked at funny and misunderstood does not mean the Wicca won’t one day be as well known as Christianity. Will I see it in my lifetime? No, probably not, but maybe my kids or grand- kids will. Who knows?
