Wicca Is Not Satan's Work!

By Fire_Faery 2010-11-19 16:03:49
Hello Fellow Wiccans, Pagans, etc.,

I am posting this because recently I was in an argument with an ex-friend of mine because they said that Wicca is a work of Satan. Well, here is my response to this statement.

Satanism is a completely different religion than the Craft and has only one “God”, whom is Satan himself. While Wicca is open to many, if not all Gods and Goddesses, depending on who is practicing the religion. Satanism has beliefs that would comprise numbers of related ideologies, and have philosophical beliefs along with social phenomena. Wicca is much easier than that, in my opinion. Satanists also admire Satan, and also share symbolism, traditions, and veneration of Satan and/or figures like him.

Satanism was started in 1966 by a group called the Ophite Cultus Satanas. Wicca was founded in the 1950’s by Wiccan High Priest Gerald Gardner. The reason why I just stated this obvious term is that Wicca has been around longer than Satanism, thus that it could not be an offspring or any work of Satan.

Another thing that is bothering me is that it is mostly Christians and/or Catholics who are stating this, which my ex-friend is a Christian. Catholics are the people who was running the Salem Witch Trials, and they captured and convicted over 150 people who were accused of practicing the Craft. They were burned to death when they got convicted. These trials lasted from 1692 through 1693. The point of this information is that the Christians and Catholics are still saying today that the Witch trials still should be around, and that who ever does the Craft should be arrested. I believe that this is not true, because in the first Amendment it states that you have freedom of speech and religion. Thus, you cannot arrest someone for practicing the Craft unless if you want to take away their rights.

If Wicca is such a “sinful” religion, then why is it that celebrities are also practicing the Craft? Yes, you heard me right, celebrities practice Witchcraft as well. These celebrities are as follows; Sully Erna (Godsmack [band]), Fairuza Balk (The Craft [movie]), Heather Graham (Anger Management [movie]), Rachel Hunter (Celebrity Circus [reality show]), Patrick Stewart (Star Trek [series]), Vigo Mortensen(Lord Of The Rings: Return of the King [movie]), Goldie Hawn (Bird on a Wire [movie]), and many more. There is also a book out that talks about the celebs practicing the Craft, “Pop! Goes the Witch” by Fiona Horne.

Not only are there the obvious differences between Satanism and Wicca, but the pentagrams are also different. The Wicca pentagram has the point of the star upward, while Satanists pentagram is downward. Also, Satanism is an “offshoot” of Christianity, while Wicca is a completely different religion.

Thanks to the readers of this, and hopefully you can agree with me on this whole topic. If you do not, that is fine. I will not hold anything against you if you feel that I am in the wrong. All I am trying to do is make a point that Wicca is not works of Satan.

Blessed Be
