| I found out the other day that the cat isn't the only thing curiosity has tried killing. I was gallivanting about my house the other day when I came upon a spider. I got closer to the specimen and realized that I had no clue what kind it was. In my past 11 years of arachnid collecting, I had never once come across one I couldn't readily identify, or at least classify. So I was off to fetch my book, The Encyclopedia of Arachnids, hoping to find an answer. When at length I found my book and returned to the spider, I was flabbergasted to find that it was gone, vanished from it's corner resting place. I turned, disappointed, to go return my book to my room, when something brushed across my face. I figured it must be nothing more than a hair, so I paid it no mind, until a sharp stinging pain was strewn across my cheek. My hand reflexively clapped the pain, crushing the spider that had bit me. I found out two days later that the spider was in fact an albino black widow, a creature I had never come across before due to the rarity of such a marvel. I rushed myself to the hospital as soon as I found this out. Teach me to go sticking my face where it isn't wanted. |
