A very short commentary on religion

By Pharaoh 2011-07-06 16:53:04
There is one universal truth that surrounds and engulfs our daily lives as people. That truth is that we are apprehensive of the unknown. That which we aren’t able to control, measure, or manipulate are the things that are driving forces in our lives and this causes us to act in irrational ways. Often times, these irrational ways are ways that we can simply explain the unexplainable while we try to understand it, but occasionally they become a part of us. The major example of this would be the way we have practiced religion through human history. History has shown us that through time humans tend to try to group one another, be this by class, race, nationality, or in this case religion. Originally, religion’s purpose (and still partly to this day) is to explain the unexplainable, give blame to that which we cannot control, and give solace to those in a time of pain in their lives. Over time it has evolved into a way to exclude, ridicule, and persecute people. We must change this.
