| I have just recently begun my immersion in Wicca. I can honestly say that the craft has blessed me with an entirely enlightened outlook on life and the cosmos, for this I am eternally grateful to the guiding light of the goddess. However,like many other individuals that practice Wicca and other forms of Paganism, I am somewhat reluctant to share my new-found religion with friends and family due to the stigma that has plagued the craft for millennia. The truth is, no matter our convictions, most of us still want to love and be loved by our friends and family. Some fear that if we were to reveal our beliefs, we would face ostracism, even retaliation from those less understanding. This is what I believe to be the greatest hindrance to potential, and practicing witches alike. Brothers and sisters, we are clad in the spirit of love and strength that the Goddess affords us, should we not summon this to dispel erring accusations, equalize the sexes, and foster an earthly brotherhood? I am not contemplating aggressive expansion, indoctrination, militancy, or political action. Rather, I believe that the most noble agent for change is within the individual. The courteous act, a soothing word, and loving consciousness help to balm the raging claims of those who would strive to persecute us. With that said, let's help to right the world, one thing at a time. We are practitioners of peace and enlightenment. Let's be proud of our heritage, with the presence of the Goddess before us, dispel your fears and summon the courage to say, "Yes, I am a Wiccan". |
