Thoughts Under The Elephant Tree |

| I decided to walk to the nature park near my college today. I was walking along one of the trails through the woods when I spotted an interesting tree. It was pretty common type for the south, a Loblolly pine, but there was something unique about it. I noticed a post underneath labeled "The Elephant Tree" I cleared away some of the dead leaves, sat down beneath it, and slowed my breathing. I sat and listened. I felt the slight breeze, and hear every bird and even the rustle of fallen leaves hitting the ground. I sat and listened and thought for a long time, when I opened my eyes there was a small blue and black feather in front of me that I didn't notice when I sat down. I picked it up and put it in my shirt pocket. Then I turned my attention to the things around me. I immediately noticed a large yellow swallowtail butterfly. I watched it for about twenty minutes. I felt the urge to chase it, but felt it would be best to leave it alone. And as I thought that my mind turned to thinking about patience. Sometimes its better to leave things be and not try to change them or get involved. If you sit back and listen and observe it will help you see the real beauty in all things. I kept watching and eventually the butterfly flew out of sight. I made sure to leave behind a few crape myrtle buds I had found as a thanks for the bit of wisdom. As I was walking back along the path I heard the faintest of whispers urging me on. I'm wondering if this could have been my first experience with a Faerie. If anyone has any feedback or anything thought provoking please feel free to comment or message me! I may not call myself a Wiccan yet, but I'm starting to feel drawn closer to it. |
