| He is indeed a facinating man. I doubt anyone will truly know his intentions except him. He could have very well been a Satanist, not that that is a bad thing. I have Satanists friends, and they really aren't bad people. Personally, I think you would have to really examine him and his acts from a non-biased point of view, which is difficult for some. Those who have a religion are more inclined to bend their findings to it. Take magic, those who don't believe in magic or don't know about it, are inclined to bend what they read about to fit the notch that their religion has carved for it. An obvious example being the religions that praise a single god, HIM. More than one. I have even seen those of the the pagan-ish branch religions fight with each other over what is Wiccan, what isn't. What being a witch entails and what it doesn't. It's pretty ridiculous. So, as for old Mr.Crowley, he was and is an enigmatic mystery stuck in the middle of a reputaion tug-of-war between several different points of view and biases. Christians will look at him one way, Wiccans will look at him another, and witches another. On and on down the endless religion line. The truth is simple. We can speculate all we want, but we will never know. |
