| Bast is a Manx cat who is 13 yo. Ive had her for 3 years and we have a close spiritual bond. I became spiritually attached to her after losing Ember in a tragic accident. Bast has always been demanding but during my time with her during the bonding process, found that she had other health problems. Being a Manx left her prone to developing arthritis in her back. Xrays showed bone spurs in her spinal column and she needed surgery. Unfortunatly, the doctor couldn't remove the spurs without causing nerve damage, but was able to relive some of the pressure. Bast appears to be deaf, yet I continue talking and signing to her evern though she can;t hear me. She is missing half her lower teeth and can only eat canned food. Now she has dementia. Loudly meowing at the top of her lungs at all hours of the night. Were going onto year 2 of her dementia and its clearly progressing. Shes forgetting that shes eatten and howls for more as if shes never eaten. She runs away from people she once recognized. And now she's wandering more and more. So much so, that going outside is no longer safe for her. Now her eyes, that were once so big and bright are now half closed and tired from life. She gazes out of the window looking for the veil from this world tot he next. Waiting to cross over. Yet this thought makes me sad and I begin to cry. She isn't in pain. Just tired and winding down. For selfish reasons I want her to stay. But know that when its her time she had accomplished what she had signed up to do. I decided, at any cost, I do not care,I will buy her an urn of Goddess Bast and have her cremated and place her on my altar. When she walks into the veil I will hold my head up high. And wave to her. With a hole in my heart and a tear in my eye. |
