Buckland's Complete Book of Witchcraft

By Crowe 2017-10-20 21:53:14
I first read “The Big Blue Book” somewhere in the neighborhood of 27 years ago. It was the very first book on the subject of Witchcraft (specifically) that I had read up to that point, and it is the one that set me on the path that I've been on ever since. I did not, however, “study” it in the way that I believe it's author intended. I've always had a copy of it somewhere nearby and couldn't possibly tell you the number of times that I read it from cover to cover, but what I didn't do was obtain many of the additional books that were listed for further study. A bit over a year ago I decided to change that.

Make no mistake. “The Big Blue Book” isn't the only book I've ever read on the subject of Wicca and Witchcraft. I've owned and read many books over the years and learned what I could from all of them, but this all began for me before our current “Information Age”. The books that were listed were often out of print and not easy to find locally and so I made due with what was available when I couldn't find the ones that I was looking for. That is certainly not the case today. With resources like Amazon and AbeBooks, finding and obtaining them inexpensively has been a simple matter and is what I have been doing for the better part of the past year. As of the time of this writing, I've managed to acquire some three quarters of the nearly one hundred books listed for further study and as suggested supplementary reading, and it is my intention to revisit “Bucklands Complete Book of Witchcraft” and study it in the way that it's author, Raymond Buckland, intended.
