Book writers blues

By serpentinephoenix 2009-06-04 11:11:18
A couple weeks, maybe more like a month back, I decided it would be a great project to write a book showing how my religion has effected my views on the world. Then I decided to get a friend in on it, as she is a partially-hidden Vampire who wants to educate the world on her kind. Well, all was going fine, and I had a ton of research pouring in on the subjects of the world, religion, and suddenly I started to feel so, so depressed.

I can't explain exactly what it was. I think it was because during all this time, I had at least figured that Wiccans were better off than I thought. But the more I read, the more I started to feel down. I've read articles from christians that continue to make us out to be terrible sinners, and no amount of talking with them can make them see differently.

I feel happy to be able to walk around in public with my pentacle showing, but at the same time I realize that people who do understand what my necklace symbolizes are most often thinking badly of me before I even get to know them. I suddenly have to ask the question "do I even have any hope of helping people understand us?" I know not everyone is the same, no matter their religion, but I also know what many churches and parents tend to preach. People cling to their holy texts and I have found they hardly think for themselves. When asked why they think we're evil, all they can say is "the bible says so". It's depressing.

I guess I just need some time away from the project. This is just the Lord and Ladies way of telling me that I have a lot of work ahead of me. For them, I will push on, but I know they want me to take care of myself first.
