I love Glastonbury :P
It's such a beautiful place! I went to the high street with all the Witchcraft stores and I visited the gardens.
The gardens were beautiful, like a big maze just full of different flowers and herbs, it even had a little stream running through it that you could drink from. When we reached the exit there was a huge open space of grass with the little stream splitting it into two halves, and a little gift shop at the bottom by the gate.
I remember sitting on a bench with my cousin and watching in wonder as a woman in long skirts and bare-footed, calmly walked along the stream with a crystal in her hand. She seemed so focused and care-free. Being from the city I looked around to see if people found this strange, yet only a few people were staring at her in confusion as if she were mad. They must have been city people like me. Everyone else didn't stare, they just smiled and enjoyed the sun.
I remember thinking, 'How I'd love to do that, to be able to walk bare-foot through that gentle stream, the water cool on my hot feet and just feel free without worrying what people may think'. The atmosphere is just so peaceful in Glastonbury.
It still has it's old buildings and stoney streets, still looking like the old fashioned village it should be. My favourite store was called The Magic Box. I bought most of my tools from there. The woman behind the counter was really nice, but then again most people there were friendly and welcoming. There was even a Faerie Magick shop! And the staff all had pointed tips stuck to their ears, wearing beautiful robes.
The people in the street seemed much more friendly than city people. The air seemed cleaner and nicer to breathe in. I saw a man walking a ferret along the street. A ferret! I was shocked. He smiled at us when me and my cousin fussed over how cute it was and he had a chat with us.
In the Faerie Magick store there was a little room at the back where I found there was loads of different stones and crystals. The man serving in there was nice too.
Now, that was what my aunt and cousin were there for. To look at all the crystal shops. They run a little shop in their hometown that sells fairy figurines, crystals and crystal jewellry. They are big believers in crystal healing. And they are into Tarot reading. But it stops there. They aren't Wiccan or Pagan, but it feels good to know that we have something in common, my cousin and I used to be really close when we were young.
Every store was similar yet different. I felt at peace, at home. I didn't want to leave. It was the best birthday outing ever!
Anyone living in England and is Wiccan, you should visit Glastonbury, it's amazing! |
