SUPERFICIAL WICCANS a.k.a Fluffy Bunnies by Charybdis SeaStar, a wiccan herself
Okay, let me start by saying I don’t condone fighting amongst ourselves in the Wiccan community but something irks me. Wiccans who don’t know what they are talking about. Also known as ignorance. One wiccan I know talks about how when she dies, she is fearful of Hell. She said she wanted to live amongst angels in Heaven. Um…….hello? Wiccans believe in a different afterlife than the Christians! Or some of the Wiccans who claim to worship deities like Moloch.
Okay, let me say something. You have a right to worship whatever God or Goddess you want. But when you should also have KNOWLEDGE of them! Moloch is a deity who thrives off human sacrifice. History shows that Moloch was a God who rewarded his disciples ONLY if they sacrificed their children to him. (I am sure the gender of Moloch is male. Drawings show a flat chested creature with the head of a bull.)
So if you want to worship a deity that will devour your family and force you to hand over every infant that springs forth from your loins, then you have that right. But don’t sit there and claim that Moloch is a “father God” or expect people to understand your reasoning for worshipping a deity that thrives off the blood of innocent victims. Yep, Moloch loves nothing more than infant blood. Disturbing to many of us but some wiccans still worship him. And they may if they choose but they should at least know what they are worshipping. The same goes for the lovely goddess Kali. She’s intriguing and seductive because of her audacity, aggressiveness, morbid history and ravenous appetite for lust and war, and a perfect protagonist for a Gothic type of film. Because of that, many Wiccans choose to worship her exclusively. She’s the goddess of death and destruction. Naturally, every rebel alive wants her as his deity. Oh, and she also walks around topless. (Hetereosexual male wiccans like topless ladies just as much as non-wiccan heterosexual males.) So there are many reasons wiccans flock to her. But are we so sure they are the right reasons?
Kali is a fascinating goddess who should be honored! But she should be honored for the good she did and too many times, a Wiccan will focus on the negative. They’ll dwell on how Kali killed someone or how Kali had violent sex with Shiva. They’ll neglect all the wonderful acts she had done. They’ll keep zeroing in on Kali’s dark violent side simply because it is “cool” to them. It’s so easy to admire a deity! It’s much harder to worship and respect them and acknowledge everything they have done, not just focus in one action of theirs! To a wiccan who does not do actual research, Kali is a tough and sexy heroine of a story. She‘s considered the archetypal bad girl, the siren. (A teenager would find her appealing but in a superficial sense.) To a serious Wiccan practicioner, Kali is a goddess in every sense of the word and she is multidimensional.
They recognize that she is a killer, a mother, a consort, and the leader of an army. She is all those things and so much more.
My prime deity is Gaia. Gaia is a loving mother and grandmother but she is more than that. She is not all sugar and sweetness. If she is angered, it is best not to cross her. Gaia castrated her own husband Ouranos. (Ouranos is the grandfather of Zeus and God of the sky.)
See, even Gaia has aspects that we cannot overlook. Gaia, the grandmother of Zeus and Hera, is famously portrayed as perpetually gentle and benign. For the most part, that would be correct. Gaia is a kind Goddess who has an amazing capacity to love. But she also doles out harsh punishments and if we forget that, then we are fucked, my friends.
We see a lot of Gaia’s personality in Hera, her granddaughter. Hera is also a Goddess revered in Wicca. Ironically, most who follow Hera acknowledge everything about her. It’s probably because her most distinctive feature is being the wife of Zeus. While Kali is renown for making violent, passionate love to Shiva, Moloch is known for slaying babies, and Gaia is known for being a “zen” type of entity, Hera’s known as a wife. For some wiccans, that is just too boring for them. They either want a scary deity who partakes in routine sacrifice and bloodshed or a deity who’s devastatingly good looking and has a ravenous sexual appetite. It makes for entertainment and eradicates boredom. These people are looking for excitement not serious worship. I guess that’s why they’re called fluffy bunnies. They don’t take Wicca seriously and are clearly in it for the wrong reasons.
