The truly Godly will always face persecution

By serpentinephoenix 2009-08-16 18:03:18
Lately, I've been watching a few tv sermons. Mostly to get a feel of things, to see what they're saying, and that quote hit me this morning when one of the preachers read it from someplace in the bible. He, of course, tried to change it (Which is against the rules of the bible, hah) by saying that it only applied to christians. But why should that be?

Nowadays, there are many different types of christians. There are the hardcore, unbendable types that tend to love to preach and change others, thinking that what makes them happy will make them happy, the type that love nothing more than to make others feel fear and insecurities about themselves by trying to scare them, then there are the ones who have realized that their book is no longer (or maybe never was) the word of God. They've woken up, and realized that most churches are only out to save themselves, and don't care about others. And it's the christians that have learned to think, that have tought themselves that the truth isn't written in some book, that have begun facing persecution.

But we pagans face persecution, too. Thankfully, I have yet to. That can change, at any second, and I know that. But as of yet I haven't been approched by anyone, nor have I been slandered. But again, that can change. I wear my pentacle proud, which will, inevitably, mark me out. But just because I am not persecuted against, I'm not blind to the struggle of others. I know that, on the whole, Pagans are seen as "a lesser religion" or even "a non-religion". We are persecuted against.

That's all the proof I need to know that paganism is valid. Because all religion faces it's adversities. But those who can stand strong and not fall by the wayside will pull through better and stronger.

Oh, and for those of you out there who have, indeed, been subject to persecution by bible addicts, give them this little peice of biblical quotation: Exodus {22:21} thou shalt neither vex a stranger, nor oppress him: For ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.
