Wiccan Art

By acphoto13 2010-01-31 17:56:48
Being a photographer and a writer I always look for new ways to express myself. With writing I can explain something on the page, give a description of a snippit of life or an emotion...and hopefully in the end someone will identify with it and feel as if they're not alone in the world. With photography I am able to capture an image in time, it could be beautiful or beautifully ugly. And again hopefully someone can look at it, get something out of it, and enjoy it for what it is or what it means to them.

Reccently I started doing Wiccan Art. I found a local Wicca shop which I now call my own and am there almost once a week if not more. The owner has taught me a lot not only about the craft but about myself. Through her talking to me I've been able to open my eyes (all 3 of them) and see the bigger picture. One thing she told me to do is to not think about what I'm createing and just do it. I had a project. I went home and sat at the computer putting together images of pentagrams done in a fancy sort of way that I got much joy out of doing. The images are going to be going on T-Shirts that she said she would sell for me in her store.

But being a photographer I thought, why not make something people could hang in their homes as art work? So I took the images and printed them out 8x10 and went to the store yesterday to drop them off for her to sell. Her reaction was more then I expected.

Her face seemed to light up when she saw the photos, she loved them. She said to me, "I knew you were good but not THAT good. You really have something inside you and it's good to see it coming out." That warmed my little heart. I feel as if I'm one step closer to living out my dream of doing this sort of thing full time instead of a 9 to 5 job. But I also realize I have more steps to take and are willing to take them.

What I would really love to do is get some people together and do a Wicca themed photo shoot or even a series of them. I would love to use actual Wiccans for this so if you're in the Chicago land area and feel like you'd want to do a photo shoot please let me know.

I'm waiting for the inspiration faery to come around and again so I can make more art work. wish me luck.
