Whispers of Change

By Rain61364 2010-03-04 01:01:48
I work the graveyard shift as a security officer for a hospital, so I'm used to walking alone by moonlight. Yet every now and then, something happens that surprises me and causes me to stop in my tracks. A few months ago it was the appearance of a rainbow colored halo around the waxing moon. Tonight, it was this really faint music. So faint you'd have to ask yourself if you're really hearing it, or is it just your imagination making melodies out of the wind through winter trees. I listened as carefully as I could, and like a shadow of a sound it was just barely there. Not like modern music, there were no words. In fact, it was like someone softly whistling a haunting melody over and over. It was beautiful. I may never know what exactly it was but it left me feeling like a promise for better times was made. I walked inside feeling very positive, like someone has spoken with just a sound saying "Everything's going to be fine, and I'm always just around the corner if you need me". What a great night!
