Black vs. White, and the Rede

| NO THIS IS NOT ABOUT RACE! just thought it would work to get your attention! this post is about the whole "black magic" vs "white magic" and all you newbies who call yourselves white wiccans or black magicians or what not. life is neither good, nor bad. it has the capacity to be both. it depends on what YOU make of it. the sunrise is neither night, nor day, it is both. it is the between time. magic is a tool. it is neither black, nor white. it has the capacity for both, depending on the intent of the user of said tool. what may not be considered harm to one, may be considered harm to another. a binding is "white" magic on your end, because you are protecting yourself. but it is also "black" on the receivers end, because you are binding their free will to make their own decisions and face the consequences of said decisions. ergo, in that manner, magic is BOTH black AND white. life is about balance. so is magic. so is wicca really. balance in life: day and night. balance in deities: we have a Lord and a Lady; the male and female aspects of life. how do you know what joy is if you have no sadness to compare it to? but life isnt always so clearly defined; like black and white. daylight and night-time have those 2 inbetween moments; twilight and dawn. Lord and Lady are governed by genderless, ultimately unknowable Spirit. (the One, whatever you want to call it) in this way. all magic, all life. is "grey" ; it has the capacity to be both black and white, and often times is both at the same time. you just have to look at the different points of view to see it. the wiccan rede "an ye harm none, do what ye will" is being taken WAY to seriously these days (or not at all by some of you people who choose to use their power for their own self gratification; that is, hurting others when they've done you wrong) "an ye harm none, do what ye will" is a noble thought and a noble cause indeed. but you cannot go thru life not harming anything at all. when you breath, you inhale, and in the end, KILL many tiny litle microorganisms that might have made you sick: your body's white bloodcells kill them. when you eat that steak or that bacon or that McChicken burger, your killing innocent animals to feed yourself. thats harm. when you walk down the street its likely your killing little ants and you dont notice it. that house you live in? the frame is built of wood, somebody had to kill trees to give you a place to live. life is ABOUT harming: survival of the fittest. its YOUR job as a wiccan, to make the decisions, about how much harm is necessary, and appropriate. when its your survival in question? thats how nature works. those who protect themselves live, those who dont, die. its in all of nature. the strongest fight for their right to live. and the weak dont. this doesnt mean, when somebody steals your boyfriend its okay to curse them. (or some other stupid situation like that in which self gratification, and not survival, is the heart of the matter) just because it makes you feel better, doesnt mean its right. sure, you feel good for a while. but then your RIGHT back where you started: without a boyfriend. doesnt solve anything. doesnt do anything at all, except make you feel better. life today has more emphasis on self gratification then it ever has in the entire history of man. this is a nature based faith. as such, we should focus LESS on the self gratification of this modern society a lot of us live in, and MORE on doing whats right. harming none is a nice thought, but you cant go thru life without harming somethings that are necessary to your survival. so, kiddies. its not about harming none, its not about black magic vs. white magic. its about using your damn brains!!!harm is necessary to your survival: its YOUR job to decide what amount of harm is appropriate! think survival! not self gratification! and just to reiterate: magic is neither black nor white. it is both. so anybody calling themselves a "white wicca" or a black magician. or any bullshit like that. is bloody delusional. because you harm things everyday without even thinking about it. we are all Spirit's children, and Spirit doesn't mind if we harm for our SURVIVAL!!!!! |
