Telling your family
Posted by Raito9 on 2010-03-18 20:31:04
I've seen alot of these messages from people who anxious and afraid of telling their family of their chosen path. I don't mean to sound harsh or anything, so please forgive if I do! These are just some words I think you who are confused should hear.

Family is the most important thing there is. If you have no faith in family, you have nothing. Blood is thicker than anything, no matter your religion. They may feel uncomfortable at first as they adjust, but don't think it will change their love for you. Your parents still loved you when you brought home a bad grade or boyfriend, so a change in your religion will blow over. Don't be afraid, and don't think your loved ones will reject you. Love is an eternal binding chain that nothing can break. Have faith in your family's love for you and have faith in yourself.

it can still be individual some families are so stuck one way that the trouble and hurt it can cause verses just love each other and keep religion out of it. Ive seen people kicked out of homes, yea in my world its a crappy family to do that but for some religions its law like jahovas witness. Others dont tell because yea your family may love you no matter what but also there religiose values tell them that there kid is going to hell. not good for a parent in there last days verses why tell them , were not converting them and we know we love each other. sometimes some feel they have to be reconised and loved for everything and not telling your wiccan isnt you and others feel im me and go the patgh of least resistance, if its not broke why fix it. just saying there are circumstances where sometimes someone might feel its better not to shout it out or keep it to those you know will except it.

No fret Malachi! :)

Like I always say, I'm a newbie! I don't have the experience others here do. I've only lived 18 years, after all. Not really full of life experiences.

Input from others is always welcome. I value anothers opinion, even if it's not the same as mine. :)

Just know that even if they don't throw a fit it may still affect the way they interact and think about you. Sometimes it is best to simply be silent and know.

I actually told my foster mother that Im a Wiccan and she told me that she doesn't know what it is! She is a Christian and asked me if I'm happy with the religion and I honetly said yes! I did tell her what Wicca is all about.
