Merry meet,
I have a question, I am very attracted to the ocean and I love the element water and so forth so I was looking for Goddesses associated with the ocean and i found the African Goddess Oshun but i was reading that African Gods and Goddesses were bad to work with is this true? I feel a strong attraction to her however i would like know. |

I wouldn't know the relative difficulty or ease of working with African gods/goddesses. However, if you wish to practice Wicca you should be worshiping, invoking and working with the Wiccan Goddess and God.
Wicca is not like eclectic neo-paganism, you cannot pick and choose your gods. |

| ummmm all the books i reed about wicca including cungingham's books says that you can have other dities. The wiccan God and Goddess are just the main ones you should be worshiping. I know of a few covens that have dities but they mainly revolve around the wiccan God and Goddess. Does this mean they aren't really wiccan just because they believe and worrship in others? One book that i read said that the dities are resembled in the God and Goddess. |

Renkon: You sound as rigid as a Christer. Wicca is all about freedom with your spirituality and an ability to connect to it rather than constantly live in fear of doing something the wrong way or using the wrong herb or not using an exact spell. You need to take a chill pill.
Kat: If you feel connected to her, then she is your goddess. For years before I became Wiccan I felt a deep connection with Anubis and the Egyptian pantheon. They're definitely the most difficult gods to work with just from simple lack and twisting of information, but I make it work because it just doesn't feel right otherwise. Pick the gods that feel right to you, because there's a reason they do. and don't listen to mr grumpy-pants up there. I thought "the goddess and the god" were too impersonal, just like Christianity.
Good luck to you, Blessed Be, and feel free to add me. ^_^ |

| I agree with DoA, the "Goddess and God" of wicca is just something you use until you find whom your personal deities are. You should experiment with the different ones until you find those who feel right to you. What works for one person may not work for another as we are all different and most writers realize that, thus they tend to use the "Goddess and God" concept. When you find the right god and goddess, you'll feel that resonating within you. BB |
