The Infamous BOS Dilema

| I'm starting my Book of Shadows in a 300 page (esamated) binded notebook. I'm having trouble in how to write it. Of course the first pages will be the title page the the Rede but after that I'm lost. I'ver heard of some who orgaize it by splitting the book into sections (spells, sabbats, herbs, etc.) and others who use it as a journal and write this information as they collect it. I'm thinking of doing the latter but I'd like to ask how each person here organizes/writes thier BOS. Thank you and blessed be, Scath |

| truth be told, i love how bound books look? but are a god damn pain in the arse if your organizing it. i have mine split into sections. and i've got mine tied together in a nifty way, so i can unbind it and shuffle pages around and organize stuff. plus if you do the latter? i.e. just write stuff in it a la journal entries, when it gets big its a pain in the arse if your looking for something specific and you have to flip through page after page after page until you find what your looking for. i have sections for rituals and spells, and i've got sections for the sabbats and sections for correspondence charts and sections for lunar phases and then i've got a section where i list stones, herbs and crystals. ive got a section for when i do my divination (tarot cards or runes or scrying) i write them down so i can reflect. i have a section for my dreams, and i have a section that acts purely as journal. |

| For the second opition I was thinking to make a an index book to keep record on where things are. The book I have can't be unbound and I feel as if it would flow more. |

| That is to say. I'd feel more engery would be put into my BOS if I wrate it in such a way. |

| i have mine in sections. one of the sections is a journal of which i rite what i discover in but then i place it in the correct section so i can find it better. then again my BOS is a three ring binder so it can b opened. |

| I have a regular white binder that I use. It has front and back sleeves so I can put in Wiccan and Pagan themed artwork. Its also awesome because I tend to print out a lot of things such as herbal properties and chakra information. So I just punch holes in them and add them in the appropriate places. I have them separated into sections as well. Very simple, very easy. I think journals are pretty and all but they aren't that useful to me. |
