You have to weigh your options. If you tell them, would it be worth the trouble you could get (Arguing, Having any Wiccan books or items thrown out, etc) just so they know you have a different faith?
I'd been Wiccan for a few years and always thought about how wonderful it would be to be "Out of the closet". When it finally happened, I had to endure my mother's snide comments, rudeness, arguments, and it was nothing like I had imagined it would be. I'm still not allowed to have any Witchcraft books in the house, and even though I'm allowed to wear my pentacle, I still find myself hiding it just to avoid drama.
Sometimes it's best to just practice in secret until you're old enough to practice without them telling you what to do.
But if you must tell them, perhaps start subtly telling her what you believe in (Start with the less Christian offensive things.) And leave out words like "witch" and "Wicca" and "Witchcraft" until you feel that they're ready for you to tell them the name of your faith.

| with being a parent myself I can understand his concern and worry. maybe before he tries to bully you into something you are not ready and willing to do. maybe he should educate himself about wicca and then you can talk about it. it's hard to argue with ignorance, and at this point sounds like he is blindly ignorant. I am sorry for your pain and hurt, just be strong. you are not alone :) |
