I think this is just one of the ignorant things "some Christians" teach.

Question: "What is the Christian view of psychics?"

Answer: The Bible strongly condemns spiritism, mediums, the occult, and psychics (Leviticus 20:27; Deuteronomy 18:10-13). Horoscopes, tarot cards, astrology, fortune tellers, palm readings, and séances fall into this category as well. These practices are based on the concept that there are gods, spirits, or deceased loved ones that can give advice and guidance. These “gods” or “spirits” are demons (2 Corinthians 11:14-15). The Bible gives us no reason to believe that deceased loved ones can contact us. If they were believers, they are in heaven enjoying the most wonderful place imaginable in fellowship with a loving God. If they were not believers, they are in hell, suffering the un-ending torment for rejecting God’s love and rebelling against Him.

So, if our loved ones cannot contact us, how do mediums, spiritists, and psychics get such accurate information? There have been many exposures of psychics as frauds. It has been proven that psychics can gain immense amounts of information on someone through ordinary means. Sometimes by just using a telephone number through caller ID and an internet search, a psychic can get names, addresses, dates of birth, dates of marriage, family members, etc. However, it is undeniable that psychics sometimes know things that should be impossible for them to know. Where do they get this information? The answer is from Satan and his demons. “And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. It is not surprising, then, if his servants masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve” (2 Corinthians 11:14-15). Acts 16:16-18 describes a fortune teller who was able to predict the future until the apostle Paul rebuked a demon out of her.

Satan pretends to be kind and helpful. He tries to appear as something good. Satan and his demons will give a psychic information about a person in order to get that person hooked into spiritism, something that God forbids. It appears innocent at first, but soon people can find themselves addicted to psychics and unwittingly allow Satan to control and destroy their lives. Peter proclaimed, “Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour” (1 Peter 5:8). In some cases, the psychics themselves are deceived, not knowing the true source of the information they receive. Whatever the case and wherever the source of the information, nothing connected to spiritism, witchcraft, or astrology is a godly means of discovering information. How does God want us to discern His will for our life? God’s plan is simple, yet powerful and effective: study the Bible (2 Timothy 3:16-17) and pray for wisdom (James 1:5).

I loved reading this, it really does show you just what ignorance is taught and how scare tactics work in the minds of those that follow. I worked for 6 years for a very VERY Christian woman. She was the first to judge and the first to tell me NOT to bring my herbs book to work and NOT to bring my astrology books to read on my breaks. She was also the first to preach of how Satan was "working in my life" because I have friends that are gay (funny thing that later I found out her very own husband was a cross dresser!!!!! GO FIGURE!! What would Jesus do here? Would he critisize someone else for what they're doing before looking at what's going on in his very own home? Another example of how hypocritcal many Christians are). Anyway, to say that a medium or spiritist or using astrology or tarot cards is getting information from satan is just ridiculous!!! We seek and find what fills us with what we need, rather it be Christian, Catholic or Wicca. Satan can work in ANYONES life, if you believe in him. Are they trying to say that satan will only try to persuade those of us that believe in things such as Astrology?
I am soooo glad that I am not involved with those that are so brainwashed that they would believe or follow such nonsense.

Peace, love and light!

i guess it boils down to which bible is read.kinf james version.mr slice and dice,is of course the worst translation to go by where the herbrew bible is quite different.
but of course most christians go by spoon reading and will not read or explore their own faith.if they did, they wouldnt be christians in the first palce.

hah, i'm not really surprised reading this... i'm moving, and we had a stager come in to help decorate our house to look "pleasing to a buyer". well, it was hell since she was a born again christian. she wanted ALL of my wiccan supplies and books out of my own house! so, i hid it out of her sight for the time being. well, she sniffed it out and reprimanded me AGAIN for having it! the woman (and her helpers who were all born again) tried to make me feel guilty about my beliefs! and when they thought my fiancee and i weren't listening, they were saying how i'm going to hell and i'd be stoned to death for my beliefs in "olden days". oh i celebrated when they got out of my house! if they weren't helping me, i'd have asked them leave (since you can't ask born again christians to please let you have your beliefs... at least not the ones i've met!) and never come back. at least they did a good job, but at a very frustrating price.

You are sssoooo right RevDave. They truely don't explore their own religion. The site I had gotten this from (www.gotquestions.org) claim to be non denominational. The are completely against everybody that is not in their "clan". I asked them what the "Christians" would say about the 6th-10th Books of Moses and this is what they replied....Sat, July 10, 2010 7:00:37 PMYour Answer from GotQuestions.org

Question 167346: What is the Christian view of the 6th through 10th Books of Moses?

Answered by: Hope

Answer:
Thank you for visiting Got Questions Ministry!

After researching this, let me first say that I can only locate books 6 and 7. However, what I discovered was somewhat disturbing. The seventh books was magical incantations. The books tells you to conjure spirits and things like that. This is what is commonly known as witchcraft and for Christians, it is forbidden. Christians believe that the bible is the inspired word of God. Because these books were not included in scripture, they would not be inspired writings.

I hope this has helped to answer your question. Please feel free to email Got Questions Ministry with any other questions that you may have in the future. God Bless!

I have been studying different religions for a while now and of course, I don't agree with alot of what they teach, but to say anything negetive about them cuz they believe different from me is wrong to me.Just as to discriminate against someone cuz of their race or sexual preference. I grew up in a Catholic household. When I moved in with my dad when I was younger, his household was Baptist. Which was totally different teaching from what Catholics teach. Instead of debating which religion was right or wrong I began to study as many religions as to not offend them, but to learn of their beliefs. "Christians" of course only learn what they themselves are tought. Alot of them are very close minded ppl. When I meet ppl like this I just have to bless them and go my way. If their God really wanted them to understand "their" Bible, as it says in the Bible, "Ask and you shall recieve", talking about knowledge and the true meanings of the Bible, He would give it to them. It's funny how they truely don't know what powers God gave moses do they. I guess if they really knew, they would have called him a witch too. LOL Well, anyways, thanks to everybody for their post to this. Love you guys. Brightest Blessings to all.
