I was the one who said I was an atheist Wiccan, so if you have a problem, please come to me with and don't fill up my friends profiles with all this negativity!
I said it, not them! Seriously! If you have the urge to bi*ch at someone, do it at me.
For those of you who have found your profiles filled with these negative comments, I am really sorry.
I didn't expect these people to take it out on you. |

one of my friends on youtube is PaganRon, he is an atheiest more or less.yet he is the more well known pagan on there.one of the bases of paganism is we use nature because we admit we dont know hundred percent what the ALL is.a deity or just a mass of energy.whos knows.so i can see how you fit in there.ron too.we have talked many hours and i see athiest wicca perfectly within the areas of paganismvby today's standards.
if you look at witchcraft from years ago, homosexuals where not thought to fit in with the idea of its beliefs.yet most animal in nature is going to have a homosexual counter part so it only makes since to allow it in the craft.gardner didnt take to the idea at the time, but now it is accepted.same with athiest,it only makes since to allow it because not one of us can say we know one hundred percent, and we ourselves admit that most of our deities are fashioned to fit us by its understanding, therefore,an athiest can fashion the idea of a deity to whether or not it is a deity or a energy source that just exsists with no thought of its own.as in its just there.
does that make since to anyone?? |

Thank you Rev. I didn't mean to start all this drama, I was just trying help a new friend see that that you don't have to follow strict religious rules, you are free to believe what you want.
Thanks for your understanding. I've never heard of another atheist wiccan, but it is nice to know I'm not alone! :)

The fact that you were trying to make was that religion is a belief. There is very little evidence to say any of it is fact. Due to this it is one of the biggest know names for multiple theories and people ironically die for such theories. People fight over the fact that they want their theory to be taken seriously. When in truth if we didnt know two plus two was four we would be laughing at the mathematics that our world is based on. People would still be laughing at the man who created books and the guy you thought up airwaves. You see people arent smart. There are some idiots that are proud to be such thinking they are the highest piece of crap to live. But he who stand on toilet gets high on pot. You cant get mad at these people.
You were in fact the one who dared challenge the thoughts of their religion which made their response normal and somewhat expected. You must understand that religion is one of the biggest theories to this day and a very touchy subject for most. A subject people will though down for and will call out for even if their words are wrong in their head they will always be right for you are infact right in the fact that religion changes from person to person. It's due to the fact that people shape religion to their morals and mindset. It's how they make them selves feel better in everything they do. You think the catholics were right when they decided to take on all religions that would not think the same as them? No, but they did think they were doing gods work. It's how people think. It's psychology 101. When someone doesnt feel it's proper they make it proper. even if it means that they are trying to find justification for murder or even just justification for what they believe.
Religion is a touchy subject there is very often no right or wrong and in the end there are no lines of right or wrong not set by the morals we keep. |

Heart, don't talk to me about religious tolerance. Read my posts. I believe every person has the right to believe what they want.
Since no religion has any scientific solid basis of fact, it is all faith. I, as well as every other person on this site, can believe what they feel is right for them.
If you've read the same page I did when researching Wicca, you'll see that atheistic witchcraft is on it, as well as several other forms of worship.
No one can tell me what I believe is wrong.
Not you or anyone else. |

Atheistic Witchcraft is very valid. So is Satanic Witchcraft and other forms.
But Wicca and Witchcraft cannot be used interchangeably.
Wicca- A religion
Witchcraft- A Practice
Anyone can be a witch- Atheist, Agnostic, Satanist, Christian even
but Wicca is Wicca. It is very deity based just as Christianity is.
So for you to call yourself an Atheist Wiccan is like calling yourself Christian and saying you don't believe in Christ. Doesn't make sense at all and all it does is make the public confused on what Wicca is. Wicca is a "do as you please" religion, but it is not a "Do as you please so much you change the key concepts of it" Because when you do, its no longer Wicca. You see? There's nothing wrong with being a Atheistic Neopagan or an Atheist Witch.
I know you're frustrated, people have berated you and things have gotten out of hand. But please, take my words into consideration. I'm not going to start cussin' and yellin' but I stand by my opinion because it deals very closely with a religion that I love more than anything and I'll keep arguing my point as long as I have to. |

Luna, I did take your words. You didn't read my response?
Atheist Pagan, as Almost said it was an easier title.
I only said Atheist Wiccan here because it was the original term. |

Well I don't see why you're so persistent on using it as an example of how Wicca is flexible. Maybe we're having a major misunderstanding somewhere along the lines...

*SIGH*
I'm not. I already said, Athesist Pagan.
Because it makes so many people unhappy, I'm changing the title to Atheist Pagan. Not Wiccan. Am I not being clear?
I meant for this post to be so people would try and understand people, and know not to judge them. |
|
| Posted by LunaSelene on 2010-08-03 22:44:40 |
I'm not judging anyone. I know that things got out of hand but I am not and I haven't.
We all are entitled to our own opinions and our own beliefs.
Its just when it comes to names a lot of people begin to have differing opinions.
People also learn and your acceptance and ability to understand another's reasoning shows you're mature, much more mature than some people I've met in the Pagan community. A lot just stick their fingers in their ears and say "Lalala I'm not listening~"
Smile, be happy, watch Chi. I'm bent on spreading the joy of that kitty. |

Right back at ya, and I am sorry if I offended you. I am changing my wording to avoid this issue happening again. It just irks me when people jump and insult like that.

Its alright. I'm sorry if I stressed you out and offended you.
I used to be one of the people who'd jump the gun and start insulting people. But with time I learned that it only makes things worse. You catch more flies with honey than with vinegar, no? and you do have to understand that everyone wants to defend their beliefs. Some people just go about it differently. You know? |

I do. I really didn't mean for this thing to just blow up like this! But, thanks for understanding. :) As always.
I knew there was a reason you were on my friends list! :D |

| I see witchcraft and wicca as one it is both practice and spiritual. Wicca came from witchcraft which is what our ancestors where called for the practice of the old ways.right? So later down the road did the practice of magic become witchcraft and a so called practice while later wicca became a religion.i really have no opinion on whether it is one or the other.but i do call myself a witch. But there are other witches than just wiccan. We are all pagans so we should stand together against bigotry right? |

| Seeing as how Wicca is a belief system I think that the interpretation of what Wicca is can be different for everyone. Atheist Wiccan or Satanic Wiccan is similar to Baptist Christian (in that it's a variation). I have met several Atheist wiccans- usually these people believe the same things except they look at the deities as energy not a higher power personified. That makes sense to me. I think that it's very closed minded and intolerant for anyone to try to argue the definition of a religion to someone because they have different views. I say if you want to be Atheist Wiccan or Atheist Pagan don't let someone that is being argumentative to be argumentative change your mind. All religions are based on theories... one of the key concepts of Wicca is that if you believe in it that makes it real. So- no one is wrong. |

I agree with you guys. I still consider myself an Atheist Wiccan, but for arguments sake, when I speak to another, I'm just going to say Atheist Pagan.
Rev, I don't think I'd ever really thought of it that way. :) |

Wow! Leave for a little while and all hell breaks loose. Ok. While we are on the subject, I am a Druid Shadow Warrior, also knows as a Rogue Druid.
Druidry is a faith, a belief system and a discipline. I believe Wicca also fits into the category of being a faith, a belief system and a discipline. Based on that approach, I see no reason why a person cannot be an atheist Wiccan.
This is not slamming anyone's beliefs. If anything it is embracing the individuality that each of us have as part of the Pagan movement. If we are not allowed to be ourselves, without conflict, then who are we supposed to be? Freedom of religion means any religion. |

| I agree with Shadow. Be who you are, take what you want, and forget the rest. YOU are YOU, who the heck cares what anyone thinks? Thats the beauty of being Wicca, we are above that and much more evolved human beings than most. Well those of us that truly understand the craft that is. You know me Ratio, I will message you and tell you who I as before. For all the reasons stated above I left this site. I now see that I was cowardly and quick to get upset. Now I know better. I am glad I am back here. |
