The "Creature" of our garden
Posted by enchantedsb on 2010-09-09 11:31:11
I had said in an earlier post that our creature has returned to our garden, so I thought I would tell you all about it, and see if you might have an idea what it is.

This creature always leaves us gifts. Usually pecans, or acorns. It never does any damage, and the garden always grows better when it is around. It never bothers our animals, even the chickens who are very skiddish of other animals. It does however love to eat beet seedlings, so we always plant twice as many as we need. When ever it does partake in the beets, it always leave something in return as "Payment", always some type of wild food. It even left a piece of honey comb once.

What ever it is, I miss it when it is not there, and always celebrate when it is back!

Any ideas what our wonderful creature could be?

Well, I would say a garden fairy, maybe several. But you may also have a well trained squirrel. Sounds fantastic though! try leaving just a thimble full of milk with a drop of honey. They loves that! You might find some special things growing you didn't even plant! Good luck!

I think you have a wonderfully intelligent creature called a Pack rat. It is kind of a cross between a rat and a hamster. It will come and take only what it needs and leaves you something in return. It really is one of the goddess's grreatest little creatures. Just so you know very few people get to have the company of these little fellows so feel priviledged. I have had the honor of having one but only for a short while he passed away during one very cold winter. Blessed be to you and your wonderful friend!

A Pack Rat ? I have never heard about such a creature and I am puzzled, wonder what it could be, you never have a chance to get a good look of it ? when it's done in your garden, send it over to mine, the thought it could be a fairy, that would be just wonderful.
Enjoy the visits while it lasts
Blessed Be

Two days ago we lost one of our beloved animals. We buried him under the banana trees we transplanted from my late Fathers garden. The next morning we found that the creature had left two big walnuts, and an acorn on top of his grave. The creature seems to be as saddened at the loss as we are.

Wow, now I really wonder what it could be, where do you live ? what kind of animals do you have in your area ?
sorry just curious.

We live in the northern part of California's central valley. For the first year I thought it was a racoon. But racoons will generally attack chickens, and the creature never bothers our hens. Every now and then we will se a skunk or a opossum on the edge of town, but never close to us. We have a high population of wild rabbits in the area, but they tend to eat everything in sight. I am at a loss as to what it is, but I am so incredibly thankful it loves our home enough to spend most of the year here!

I agree with it as a Fairie but there are such things as garden gnomes as well.
