Hey guys, I need your help.
Posted by LunaSelene on 2010-09-27 17:43:53
I'm rearranging my bedroom and taking out my bed. Instead I'm putting my mattress on the floor and taking out all drawers and furniture (Hoping to have an Urban style room). Thus, I'm losing my hiding space for all my books and tarot cards.

I'm not allowed to have such things in the house (not even under the roof so that knocks out the garage). Outside, the weather is hellacious and anything put out there is victim to the weather or the wild animals. And no, talking to my folks would not work. I've tried.

I'm trying to think of where I could hide my books. I'm thinking my closet but where in it? Its a bit small and is open. I don't want anything to look suspicious to my family.

Any ideas?

well, its doable really well, if your willing to do a little work.

hiding ur tarot deck is a piece o'cake. albeit time consuming. but the result is a NIFTY hiding spot.

find urself an ol' hardcover book, bigger than your deck, and thicker than your deck stacked. carefully take some white glue (because it drives clear) and glue all the pages together cept say the first 20 or 30 pages of the book (u want it to still look like a book if somebody picked it up lol)

so glue all the pages together, and trace around your deck on the top most page of all the glued together pages. cut out the rectangle with an exacto knife or a razor blade, and BAM u haz a little hollowed out book to hide your deck in.

hiding books may be a little more difficult, id suggest either hiding them in inconspicuous places like shoeboxes filled with other things on top, or you could go and switch the covers.

best way to do that is to go find old hardcovers at garage sales, bigger than your books, remove all the pages, and superglue your to-be-hidden books into the old no-page hardcover. that way you have an inconspicuous cover on a witchy book! takes a bit of working with

and if you get super glue on your hands, water and soap doesnt work. nailpolish with acetone (speaking from experience here :P)

best way is to work with whats already in your closet. so teh rental units dont notice anything new.

and while we're on the subject, you really out to respect your parents rules. they DO support you. put food in your stomach, clothes on your back, a roof over your head, etc. you should respect their wishes.

an i dont see why youd put your matress on the floor lol. bedbugs love that short trip from mattress to carpet. and you ruin your mattress like that.....

I'm putting my mattress on the floor because I have pet ferrets and they need a lot of space to run and they like to get into the drawers underneath my bed. Its really dangerous for them.I'm pretty much turning my room into a ferret safe playroom. Its something I've wanted to do since I got my first ferret. Plus its easier to clean (my bed is one with drawers underneath and collects lots of dust), less allergens to collect on the furniture (I'm taking out other pieces of furniture), and I find it more stylish and fun looking.

And the book idea is great for a person who has one deck. I have almost 20. (And have spent close to 400$ on my hobby)

I would keep my books outside if it was one or two. But I have a small library's worth. Again, about 200$ worth collected over my years as a Wiccan. My well-spent money> respect. I respect them in every way but on this subject (And I have my private reasons for that.)

Thanks though.

After I posted the original post, I looked around and found that I could easily move things around.

how about getting a chest with a lock ? wouldn't take to much space and maybe big enough to hide your books and Tarot cards .. or some suitcase you can keep inside of your closet ? even with taken out the furniture, you will still need some kind of storage.
I would put the chest or trunk next to the bed, put a light on top and use a night stand. The Ferrets won't be able to klimb under it.
Good Luck :)

Maybe you could actually get a trunk, I found an antique doll trunk at a flea market for $20 and it could easily fit a bunch of books, at least 15-20 depending on size. It looks like an old steamer trunk. I'd invest in a lock for sure. I love ferrets. I had one once who used to hide but when I would get his snacks, he'd come running and go in his cage. He was well trained.
Anyhow good luck!

I love antique things.
I've been wanting to go to a second hand shop for years. I've been told that it's a gold mine of antique looking jewelry.

And mine are litterbox trained but that's it. About once a month I'll wake up to my ferrets escaped in my rooom and lucky me, they're friendly and come right out when you call their names. I don't know how they do it. The cage is renowned for being ferret-proof. The night after I adopted my second one, I woke up to him being inside the bedframe. When I pulled out the drawer his beady eyes were staring at me.

None the less, I love my ferrets. Sweetest creatures ever.
