Off topic help

For those of you who sew, I need some help.

I'm trying to take up sewing, I've found that I actually enjoy it. But m machine is giving me some problems.

My thread won't stay in the needle. When I run it through, the bottom thread bunces up in one spot on the cloth. The bobbin tangles up sometimes. The stitches just fall apart.

I've managed to get my machin to work sometimes, but nowit's giving me a heap of trouble. It's new and I've barely used it.

It's a Husqvarna Viking Huskystar E10.

Any help would be awesome.

well, i suggest firstly, check the tension. also, tension needs to be altered depending on the material your trying to sew. you can tell if the tension is off, by sewing a patch of material (try cotton to start) and checking that both sides of the stitches on both sides of fabric are even, and one side isnt looser than the other.

you can change the tension, i duno how you would on yours so check the manual or google a manual if you dont have one..

secondly, for the bobbin tangling, make sure you've got it facing the right way so the thread flows out properly.

also, if your stitches are constantly falling out, make sure when you start or finish a seam, that you backstitch over the first few stitches to sort of "lock" them in place. most machines have a little button or a switch that causes the machine to stitch in reverse (sorry if im telling you stuff you already know :P )

glad to hear your taking up sewing :D hand sewing may take longer, but you can often eliminate a lot of these problems by sewing by hand. especially if its a smaller project.

also, building up your hand-sewing can lead to things like embroidery, not easy, rather time consuming, but really rewarding if you can do it. all my towels are monogramed lol.

if you enjoy sewing you should look into something like crochet. like knitting, only easier, cuz its only one "needle" (thats actually a hook) and you dont have to deal with having your work on a needle and having to tie it off when your done lol. plus crochet is travel friendly, unlike a sewing machine. lol
lotsa easy crochet tutorials online u can check out for free!

HAPPY CRAFTING!

I was beginning to think no one would reply! LOL

Thanks, Almost. I'll try those. I'm new to sewing, but I'm practicing. I want alter some of a friends clothes so I can make her a GothLoli costume for Halloween. The material is really thin and light.

:) It is fun, and I found I enjoy it! (When the machine cooperates!)
