CHILDREN-grow up and don't study the craft until...
Posted by alura on 2010-10-09 22:06:20
You are mature. I can't stand idyll while you run a f#$@$$# muck in the world.
You can NOT just study magic, or Wicca, or Witchcraft...you have to BE it. I'm getting annoyed with the cavalier attitude of the youth here thinking they can point a finger and abracadabra....poof!
READ READ READ that is the first step. It takes years. YEARS to become a Priestess, much less a High Priestess.
Stop giving yourselves airs.
This is really for those under 18...and for the elders here. Do NOT mislead our sisters and brothers. You all know better. I'm seeing a lot of BS on profiles....spare me.
and now-this portion is for who ever it applies to:
Help? Stay in school, and if you're not in school-go back. Learn to articulate and punctuate. I'm not trying to be mean but the way people write here just pisses me off.
Witches are intelligent people-we need to show it. Why? So we can keep idiot Republicans off our collective ASSES.
If you want help I recommend not trying to brag about what powers you seem to think you have. It isn't about you and for all the kids here...it isn't about YOU!
Read 100 books on the craft, after you've done that then show me what you think you know!
Immaturity annoys me, even if you're in your 40's, I don't care.
Now go read.

What's wrong with just studying it? I study religions I don't follow. They fascinate me. I like to watch from an outside view of how a persons religion effects their views of other people, as well as their personality and everday activities.

I don't believe in the wiccan gods, but I still study it. It's an interesting religion. It's not really fair to tell someone they have to follow the religion to study it, is it?

I don't mean to sound rude, but that's what it looks like you're saying.

Sadly, telling someone they can't do something only makes them want to do it more. On top of that you can't just tell someone to do something and expect it to be done.

Yes, there are a lot of immature people in the Pagan world. But they grow up. Trust me, we all start of in the same way. Most, if not all of us started off thinking we could just point and say a word. But through trial, error and learning we learned otherwise.

Learning is not just confined to books. Especially in the craft. The craft is very much so trial and error as well as learning from the natural world around us. Wicca is very nature based- wouldn't it make sense that we need to learn from nature, not just from a book telling us about nature?

As for spelling errors, this is the internet. There are some people who write in shorthand, others who are bad at the keyboard, and some who truly are learning disabled. Blasting people because they need to learn grammar, while may be a good idea, is in reality only going to anger and annoy people- thus detracting from what you're trying to get across. Its great that you are or were an educator but go about it the way you do your students- with patience and kindness.

You get more flies with honey than with vinegar. Remember that.

Blessed Be All

I agree with you, but you need to be a little leaniant on those that are young in the art and those who study it as an intrest. It's those who seek to undo this community that we should be more worried about, those people that say this is an unsuitable religion, and those religions that are in essence bad for use over all.

I study till I have the spells memorize to the point that I not only don't need a page to read the spell, some times i don't need a circle to do the spell.

Peace to all and don't let people get you down it messes with your power control.

I guess I'm too late then. I'm 17 years good and have a fairly good knowledge of the Craft and its rules and consequences. For every action there is a reaction. I started studying the craft when I was 11 years old and I feel surrounding myself with knowledge of these hidden things since a young age has helped me progress. Of course I understand what you mean in terms of this kids who come on here with little knowledge on the craft and act like it's an episode of Charmed. Surely I sympathize with you on those feelings but we must remember, there actions will show reaction and whether they choose to learn from their mistakes and also creations are their option. Time will be the judge. Hopefully a very knowledgeable person comes out of the child who has learned reactions caused by sending things out, and hopefully a child does not work these things and never learns their lesson and stays in a spiritual and moral-less ignorance. We must let time be the judge.

the people you're talking about are the 12 year old goth girls who watch the movie the craft, decide thats realistic, and start claiming theyre witches or wiccan just so they can curse the people that pick on them. Those people annoy me to no end because theyre giving the rest of us a bad name, but not every yoyng wiccan is like that. Im turning 17 day after samhain, ive only been researching for half a year and have only performed two rituals, I know I have volumes of books and years of study ahead of me. I dont claim to have any powers either, and im quite intellectual. You as a wiccan should know better than anyone not to make broad sweeping statements like that.
