I have some questions about Wicca
Posted by Lady_Twyla_Skysong on 2010-11-09 19:31:47
I'm a new and young Wiccan and I don't personally know any Wiccans, so I figured that maybe someone on here could answer some of my questions: What do I put in my Book of Shadows? Do I have to join a coven? Do I have to do some sort of initiation to be an official Wiccan? Could I join a coven being 15 yrs old? Also, if you have any advice or thing I should know to be a proper Wiccan, please let me know. I'm doing my own research, but some help from real Wiccans would be appreciated. Thanks!

I'm a new and young Wiccan and I don't personally know any Wiccans, so I figured that maybe someone on here could answer some of my questions: What do I put in my Book of Shadows?
Answer: Anything you like, rituals and spells are most common though. you can put thoughts, drawings, pictures of loved ones, herbs....

Do I have to join a coven?
Answer: Absolutely not. It is nice if you can attend a few public rituals but you can be totally solitary. Which I recommend, until you've had time to learn on your own...

Do I have to do some sort of initiation to be an official Wiccan?
Answer: You don't have to have an initiation, you can do a self dedication. If you search online you can find some very nice ones.

Could I join a coven being 15 yrs old?
Answer: Most covens that are legit will not take you till you are of age. You must be very careful if you choose to join a coven. Never do anything that makes you feel uncomfortable. Again most covens won't take you at 15. There are some people out there that don't understand the craft-or Wicca and can take you for a nasty ride.

Also, if you have any advice or thing I should know to be a proper Wiccan, please let me know. I'm doing my own research, but some help from real Wiccans would be appreciated. Thanks!

Advice: Continue to research everything on Wicca. Also check religioustolerance.org/wicca. There are great books too-so many! Too many to name. I'd recommend authors like Silver Ravenwolf, edain McCoy, Raymond Buckland, Scott Cunningham, Ann Moira, The Farrars, Gavin bone, Raven Grimassi, etc.

Hope that helps!

In a blood line yes you have to take an oath in your coven
In new age no you dont
In bloodline you are brought in at the time of age
In new age after 18 for legal issues
In a blood line you are taught what a proper wica is
In new age there is no definition
If you wan to no more ask
