Me.

Okay so I've been into this for a year, but only this last month have i really made an effort to study. I read a lot. I feel its WAY too soon to even jump into spells. I know i need to learn. And it might take me months or even years, and you know what, that's more than fine with me. Learning properly is something i need to do. I feel that this is the path for me.
I have this thing where i can feel when things are going to happen. Its been like that for about 6 years. Or well, thats about the time that i really noticed it. I found out that it runs in my family, my grandmother had the same thing. Feels good to know im not crazy.
ANYWHO the point of this post was not to drown you in boredom of my life...Tho background is always good right?
I don't have any tools, candles or even an altar. I need ways to create my own tools for my parents don't really approve of the whole..spell thing. So im hoping people can help me. ANYONE. I'm desperate to start getting things together. Even if i wont use them for awhile, it'd be nice to have them. SO my question is..What can i use to build my altar? What tools do i REALLY need and what tools are just useless? Are there any books that are worth reading on wicca practices. I do have Bucklands Complete Book Of Witchcraft. But id like to know a few others to have. Also I would like to learn tarot. Its something ive wanted to learn for a few years. Any suggestions? Books?
And of course anything else that would be helpful would be appreciated.

Anyway, I'm done drowning you with info. Thank you and Blessed Be!

In my personal opinion, the tools dont make the witch. One can do magic with their finger as their athame/wand and their mind. "tools" just help to physically reinforce the ideas and the actions.

And as for a "stealth" altar, you could use a shelf, the top of your dresser, a coffee table anything you already have.

And for stealth items, just use things that look inconspicuous. If you wanted to represent the elements on your alter, just put out things like, a gorgeous rock, a dried flower or leaf for earth, you could use a feather or an empty bottle for air, water is easy lol have a glass of water on your shelf-alter lol. and an unlit candle can still serve as fire. In this manner, it just looks like a shelf full of things you've found or collected.

if your into art, you could always paint your own representations of any deities you practice with.

keep in mind though, you dont NEED an altar and funky expensive tools to call yourself a wiccan or practice witchcraft. a lot of internet pages/shops, and even some books, will tell you that you NEED these things, but they only tell you that to turn a profit.

hope these ideas helped!

Blessings on you and yours,

Ember

Thats a great idea.
Really great.

What do i do about learning things? And the whole...never mind..I'm beyond clueless apparently. I know nothing about the elements...other than what they are.
I don't know the god or goddess...or anything about it..I don't understand anything yet...i feel so...lost.

Oh pshhaw, everybody starts "clueless"

You said you had bucklands book? Its as good a place as any to start. that book covers the elements and deities among other things, so its a good place to begin.

everybody has to start somewhere. try not to feel so overwhelmed. the truth of the matter is the majority of pagans of any kind, if they put the effort in, never stop learning. theres just SOOOO much to know, theres no way to learn it all. :) dont feel down, just trudge away diligently and you'll make headway against the stream.

IF you have questions of any kind, dont feel free to ask the community. a lot of people here still visit and keep an eye on the message boards, so feel free to post on the board and somebody will get back to you.
