weird occurance after my full moon rite lastnight
Posted by crimsonandblack731 on 2011-02-19 13:24:17
I began washing the milk out of my chalice from the simple feast and the milk at the bottom turned black and there is now an image of a bird on a branch permanently at the bottom of the glass (it appears to be a large bird and has a shape resembling a raven crow or something similar to one of these)... Kinda cool... but i am wondering what this could possibly mean... can someone please help me figure this out?

a black raven on a branch is definatly not a good sign. could be a warning form the goddess herself of a dangerous situation to come. be cautious!

Wow, that is one of the weirdest things I've heard of! Talk about trippy.

So wait, what kind of material is this chalice made of? Did you say glass? (I use a pewter chalice myself.) Is the image on the inside part where it touches the liquid, or on the outside part where you set the glass down?

Er... anyway I would treat this like a tea leaf reading. I just went to a tea leaf web site and it says:

BIRD: Good news.

RAVEN: Bad news.

Hrrrrm... Another tea-leaf web site says that ravens mean "failure in business."

Here is what I think: Perhaps the raven was a message about the particular spell you were doing in your circle. It may be an indication that whatever you were asking for was the wrong thing. Or it could indicate that you're going down the wrong path. If you have a problem, maybe try to solve the problem a different way?

If you were doing a spell, did it go against the Wiccan Reede? For example, were you trying to bend the will of another person, or make them do something? I have no idea what you were doing so this us just a guess here. But for example, if you were doing a spell to make a specific person like you... that's generally considered a no-no. Instead you should ask the gods to send love and friendship energy your way, and to open a path to finding new friends. That's better than saying like, "Make Bob ask me to the dance." :) You get the idea.

So, consider what you were trying to accomplish in your circle, and ask yourself if it was really the right thing?

oooo... itLs funny you bring up taseograhpy *sp?* cause thats my major form of divination. in my experience i've never heard of a raven being a good sign. i belive cloudeagle is correct tho. youLve gotta look at these things in context. there should be a copy of the wiccan rede somewere on this site that will thell you were you went wrong...

Oh seriously! Good point, LadyStyx! There definitely needs to be a copy of the Wiccan Reede posted up here.

I see there are a lot of inexperienced people on the site, who don't know how to get started in the Craft, or worse, are experimenting with things they just shouldn't be messing with. (Like the girl looking for a spell to turn herself into a vampire.) Oy vey.

Ok folks: As LadyStyx recommended, start with the Wiccan Reede.

Bide the Wiccan law ye must,
In perfect love, in perfect trust.
Eight words with Wiccan Reede fulfill:
And Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will.
Follow this with mind and heart,
so merry Ye meet, and merry Ye part.

In a nutshell:
1. And Ye Harm None means don't cast spells that bend other people to your will. If you make your best friend mad at you, casting a spell to make that person forgive you is bad. You would be forcing them to do something against their will. Better that you apologize and let them forgive you on their own will.

And Ye Harm None also means: Do not throw "curses" around when you are mad at somebody. A better solution would be to ask the gods to protect you. Cast a circle and use protecting herbs to return negative energy to the sender. This way you are being a mirror, not a cannon.

2. Merry Ye Meet and Merry Ye Part is a good one. If you meet people in friendship, you will leave them in friendship. There was a post here a few weeks ago from a "wiccan goth" kid who said he was arguing with Christians at his high school and he got beat up. Perfect example: He met them in anger and parted with a black eye. Ever heard someone say, "You reap what you sow?" Yeah, you get back what you give out. Meet people with love and you will get love back.

So... there is more to the Wiccan Reede than that, especially about the rule of three. If you do something "bad" (like a spell that controls another person) the Reede says that Karma will come back on you threefold. That's why tossing curses about is a really bad idea. You'll be unhappy with the repercussions of your cursing.

People really need to give more thought to the basis for their spell-work. Where are you coming from when you do a candle spell, or work magick? It's always important to work, "in the goodness and in the light." Again, sending good energy out into the world is likely to cause good energy to come back to you.

Ok, I'm done ranting. :)

to answer questions: The only spells i cast were consecration spells for my altar tools and the chalice is made of crytsal... and to address some other statements: as far as the business endeavor i have none to speak of, and as far as problems to fix i have few and they are small.

From a different point of view: In Sterga birds are the messengers of the devine. Spirits can inhabit birds. A message is coming from the other side. You could be getting help from the spirits. Look for signs. If there is something you really need now is the time to do a spell for it.
