Animal Spirit Guides

| I've been doing a lot of research into spirit guides recently, so I may be able to help. An animal spirit guide, also known as a totem animal, is a usually non-physical animal you have always felt a special connection to through out your life which guides you and protects you through life and in your travel to the astral plane. It can also be a mythical creature, though these are more rare. The spirit chooses you, not the other way around, and its traits usually reflect your own inner powers. More temporarily, other spirit guides will come to you at important times in your life you guide you though it, give you a warning, or teach you something. These are the ones with different traits than yourself. Spirit guides are not your servants, they are your teachers, and as such should be treated with the respect they deserve. When you call them to you always greet them and thank them for coming, and when you leave thank them again. you may want to give them an offering of some kind. When called, they will not always come. Take into account the spirit's physical counterpart when deciding when appropriate times to ask for their help are. Also, they could just be busy. If they don't come wait and try again later or resolve the issue on your own if possible. Never venture into the spirit world without a guide, it could be very dangerous, especially for newbies. How you meet yours is to clear the mind, meditate for a moment, then call to them. They might not show up the first few times, be persistent. When they do, thank them, greet them, and ask their name. Always be willing to learn what they have to teach and be courteous. Also, more is not always better. He who has many teachers has more to learn.
