Spirit Guide/Familiar Question Posted by MirasaurusRex on 2011-05-23 19:39:49 So I've been doing some research into animal guides/totem animals/spirit animals/familiars, and the infinite knowledge that is the internet's thoughts on something. Familiars tend to be a pet you are very close to and trusting with, yes? Does that apply to the deceased? When I was a little girl I had a cat named Shiva, and I've never been closer to another living creature than I was to her. She'd comfort me when I was sad or sick and walk me to and from the bus stop even though there were dogs in that yard and follow me trick or treating. She even dragged another one of our cats home from I don't even know how far away after she had been hit by a car, and we managed to get her to a vet and she survived. If it wasn't for Shiva the other cat would have died. My grandfather killed her though, along with all the cats he could catch. He'd bought my mom a new couch and caught one sleeping on it... even after all the years I'm about to cry just thinking about it... Anyway, I know that if she were still with me she would have accepted becoming my familiar, but what I want to know is if it's polite or even possible to find her in the spirit world and ask her to be my spirit guide.
