how do you make a child listen?

| I have a two year old step grand child that litterly does whatever he wants no matter what his dad my husband or I do to try to get him to stop. He gets into things and so on beyond what a normal two year old does. His dad just got custody of him because his mother dropped him at my house and disappered. Any ideas on what to do I have ran out of options and his father and my husband are about to lose their tempers with him I would like to change his behavior without him getting hurt any ideas are welcome |

| One thing I noticed with my daughter is the more I got onto her, the more she did it. The toddler could just be seeking attention, so try to give him more attention when he's being good and less attention when he's being bad (other than just telling him that what he's doing is a "NO NO!"). Given enough time, I'm sure the boy will come around. (It worked for my daughter) |

| it must be hard for the little guy his mother leaving him and all, be firm with him and be consistent, the worst thing u can do at this age is to say u will do some thing and not fallow through weather it’s good or bad behaviour all he want is to be loved, take him around ur place and tell him what he's aloud to touch and what he's not. Sounds like he needs ur and ur hubbys time, take him to the park or do a craft every night for a week to bond with him. hope this helps blessings 2 all of u Fay |

| Greetings, Consistency is the best remedy for toddlers, and all the way through teens. Another thing that might help is a safe general area for him to be in when your busy. Small toys that will amuze him, and occupy his tiny hands and busy little thoughts. I am a grandmother and greatmother, these little trick were handed down, and as simple as they seem, really work.
