Merry Meet!!! I am Raven Goldenseal and I first heard about Wicca in the year 1989 from the most unlikely of places....a fiction book written by Whitley Strieber called "Cat Magic". It was a great book about a young woman, an artist, who returns to her small hometown after living in the big city for a while. She is commissioned by an eccentric old woman to illustrate a reprinting of a book only to find out that she is actually there to be initiated into a coven.....initiated as the Maiden of the coven. There are many misadventures with her crazy uncle and an evangelical preacher, but I don't want to give too much away (for those who want to read the book). In the Foreword of the book, Strieber explains how Wicca is a real religion and for those who wanted to learn more, he gave the address for Circle Sanctuary in Mount Horeb, Wisconsin. That is the place that sent me my first Wiccan reading materials.
After that, I joined the Army. While in the Army, stationed at Fort Drum, New York, I bought several books about Wicca (mostly Gerald Gardner and Scott Cunningham) and soaked in all the information that I could. I married a French/Italian Catholic girl while enlisted, but seperated from her 2 years later (irreconsilable differences) about the same time as my discharge from the service. I moved in with some friends, all the while studying this new religion. I self dedicated myself to the Goddess and the God in the Spring of 1994 while attending Jefferson Community College in Watertown, New York, and went public about my involvement in Wicca to my best friend, with whom I lived. Much to my astonishment, he said that he was pagan also, as was his girlfriend! I could not believe my ears. Our other room mate soon found out and was eager to learn about Wicca himself. And The DragonMoon Coven of Watertown, New York was born.
In the year 1999, I moved back to my hometown of Silsbee, Texas. Since none of my very Christian family knew that I was a Wiccan, I had to hide everything from them. None of the old high school friends that I reaquainted myself with knew much about Wicca and had no interest to learn, I found out discreetly. I had to perform all of my rituals in the utmost secrecy or risk banishment from everyone I knew. To this day, VERY few people know of my involvement.
In August 2005, through Witchvox, I met my soulmate, ObsidianWidow, who is also pagan, and on January 25th, 2006 I asked for her hand in marriage. She said yes! We hope to start our own coven called Circle of the Sacred Forest, which will be family oriented, since ObsidianWidow and most of the pagan friends we know have kids. In April 2007, ObsidianWidow accepted a job at a new hospital in the San Marcos, Texas area, so we moved up to San Marcos, Texas. I am no attending Texas State University where I am attempting a double major in Geographical Information Systems and Geography: Resource and Environmental. There is a huge Pagan/Wiccan presence here and a few really good pagan oriented shops.
My writing has really taken off. I'm working on a second collection of poetry...the first being "Schisms of Reality" which I wrote under the name Billy W. Mitchell, and will hopefully have it submitted for publication in early 2008. I also have I think 3 novels in the works ("Renaissance Magic", "Red Rover", and "Fire Quest") and a teen (pagan) fiction series entitled "Taliesin Island" in the mix. |

| your intro was a little brazen not very friendly at all. is it your desire to turn others away? you seem to have a lot to offer. why the callous intro? most are not looking for someone to date but simply to network. FYI: I personally have no interest in dating you even if you were single but would have liked to have shared with you. I am a person of principle over personality! | Lucii | 2012-04-22 22:56:31 | (jessica_2vndaye@yahoo.com)
