Dream Catcher chant(and making) |
| By ShadowTalon |

A fellow wiccan in my town, who I look up to as a big sister, told me once that a dream catcher made as a gift should be cut from alder instead of white willow. Both of which are plentiful in my area. I thought up this chant, poem or what you will kinda on the fly.
While cutting the piece of alder(or willow. Remember to ask first!):
"Much thanks to thee
A gift it shall be
This branch I claim
In Protection's name
Dream not more of hirrible things
Instead be granted pleasant dreams"
Tie the two ends of the cut branch together with black thread. Weave the spiral in whichever color you wish. Traditionally, it's white.
While weaving the spiral:
"Every weave
Is less you'll grieve
Of nights filled with sleep lost
As you turned and tossed
In this web, nightmares are caught
Further terrorized you are not."
Tie off the spiral. Tie on a piece of clear quarts.(optional) Decorate with beads, feathers or whatever strikes the fancey. As always, end with "So mote it be, An it harm none."
You may or may not want to have another protection spell or blessing placed on this dream catcher if the person it is intended for is harrassed by especially strong or frequent night mares.
Blessed Be )O( |
