Moon Rune Spell
January 8th, 2008
Color of the day: White
Incense of the day: Cedar
In Scotland, a charm known as a “rune” was uttered when first catching a
glimpse of the New Moon. This word differs from the one used to describe the
Norse runes, and comes from the Scottish Gaelic word rún, which means “a secret”
or “a mystery.” It was also used to refer to someone who was beloved. It
was traditional to turn over a piece of silver in the pocket when seeing the
New Moon for the first time. Hold a silver vessel of sacred water in your
hands as you scan the skies for the first appearance of the crescent Moon. When
you see her, pour three circles of water on the ground and repeat this rune:
When I see the new crescent
It becomes me to say my rune.
May the Moon of Moons
Be coming through the clouds,
And be my knee bent down
To the queen of loveliness.

Moonbeam Spell
January 7th, 2008
Color of the day: Gray
Incense of the day: Hyssop
Breathe into relaxation and imagine that you are standing outside under the
Moon. Notice the phase of the Moon. Is it full, dark, or crescent? Is it
waning or waxing? Feel the light of the Moon on your body as it begins to sink
into your skin, filling your being. Give thanks for the presence of the Moon
and its energy. Allow the experience to unfold as it will, trusting that you
will learn what you need to at this time. You may meet with a god or goddess of
the Moon. You may be drawn up to the Moon itself or ride the moonbeams to
another world. When you feel you have received what you will in this session,
thank those present for their guidance and return to your physical body.
